Also known as the Ubatuba Cambuci pepper or Ubatuba pepper, the Cambuci pepper is a rare variety from Brazil with a unique shape similar to a bell shape, like the Bishop Crown pepper, but with less heat and more sweetness.
The pepper plant will grow to 3 ft. tall and produce these distinctly shaped, 3" long pepper pods. Ubatuba Cambuci peppers ripen from yellow, orange, and finally bright red when mature.
You may taste a bit of heat with a spicy flavor at first, but then it will simmer down with fruity sweetness. To be more detailed, its wings have a sweeter flavor and its body has a more mild hot flavor. The Cambuci pepper has an apple-like crunch and a light, crisp flavor, and is excellent to use for salads, sandwiches, stuffing, salsas, sauces, jam, and more!
Fun Fact: Ubatuba is a beach town in San Paulo, and Cambuci is a city located in Rio de Janeiro!
