$3.00
$4.00
GROW YOUR OWN CHRISTMAS TREE!~ Blue Spruce Edition ~
Imagine how thrilling it would be to grow your very own Christmas Trees!
There’s nothing like the delightful, magical fragrance of a real tree perfuming the air to make it really feel like Christmas! Envision how rewarding it would be to spend the season with one you grew yourself (& the bragging rights that will come with it, lol!). Besides being a lot of fun to do, growing your own trees can also save you a fortune!
As exciting as it’d be for you, so would it be for everyone on your gift list!
Seedville USA's Grow Your Own Christmas Tree Gift Seed Packets are the perfect gift for everyone on your list! They make an excellent present on their own, are a superb stocking stuffer, & look great gracing a gift basket.
We've rounded up the 4 most popular types of Christmas Tree seeds for you & packaged them attractively so they are perfect for gifting. Choose from Fraser Fir, Douglas Fir, Balsam Fir, & Blue Spruce, or purchase the entire collection & receive them in a free gift bag!
The seeds are easy to plant (instructions are included) & you don't need to be experienced to be successful with these. It's fun for all ages! Seed planting is a great activity to do with children, & it's so much fun for them to watch them grow as they do. These seeds can even be winter sown, so you don't have to wait to get started.
With plenty of seeds in each pack, you'll have enough to cut & to leave a beautiful legacy, or use my favorite method … Grow the trees in containers for the first few years, bringing them indoors for the weeks surrounding Christmas. Once they become too large to be brought in, plant them in their permanent place outdoors. It's a win-win! You get to enjoy a real Christmas tree, the tree gets to live on for future generations of humans & wildlife to enjoy, & the tree can reproduce & make even more trees. (Pro Tip - Sow a few new tree seeds every couple of years so you always have the perfect size!)
All species are native to the USA & were grown, harvested, & hand packaged with pride in the USA :)
BLUE SPRUCE:
The Blue Spruce, a timeless classic beloved for their stunningly beautiful signature silvery-blue color, remains one of the most popular types of Christmas trees. Their dense branching provides a full appearance & their sturdy branches hold the weight of ornaments well. Spruce trees retain their needles for around 4 weeks after being cut if they are kept well hydrated. The fragrance is delightful, with a scent of cool pine & crisp woods that is clean & Christmasy. Capturing the essence of a stroll through a pine forest, Blue Spruce manages to be both refreshing & invigorating as well as warm, inviting, & relaxing with woody earthy undertones. And, guess what the living Christmas Tree on the White House’s south lawn is? Yep, you got it – it’s a Blue Spruce!

QUANTITY: 50 Seeds (northern grown in Ohio)
OTHER: This big beauty is indeed native to North America as well as a few areas in Central America. They are a popular shade tree, beloved for their great coloration & year-round interest in the landscape. I personally have several in my own yard :)
The leaves of the American Sweetgum are a beautiful glossy bright dark green five-pointed star shape with serrated edges. They are large, measuring 3 - 7" wide, & are fragrant when bruised. In fall, the leaves turn the most stunning shade of bright yellow, orange, red & purple. They really put on an incredible show that will rival any maple you wanna pit them against :)
The tree's greenish yellow flowers appear in the spring, & become one of the tree's most recognizable features, the 'gumballs'. The hard spiky fruit starts out bright green & matures to an auburn - brown color. The spike balls measure 1 - 1 1/2" across, & many remain on the tree throughout the winter like ornaments. The spike balls contain the tree's seeds which are a favorite of squirrels, chipmunks, finches, & more. The tree's smaller branches also sometimes have corky-ridges (think of a long narrow fin) running along them. The bark of the tree is deeply ridged, earning it its nicknames of Alligator Tree & Alligatorwood.
The Sweetgum grows well in average soil with average moisture, & does exceptionally well in moist clay soils with poor drainage. Believe me, this is not an exaggeration, sadly this perfectly describes my backyard & my big old trees are doing great. Lol. The trees also have a moderate salt tolerance.
These hardwood trees are grown commercially for their wood that is used to make a wide variety of goods ranging from furniture to flooring to railroad ties & chopsticks, being prized for their beautiful light-colored fine-grained wood.
Sweetgum's botanical name 'Liquidambar' (& the 'gum' part) comes from the pleasingly fragrant gum resin in the tree's bark that resembles liquid amber. Historically, the gum was used for a variety of purposes including medicinally, to make chewing gum, as a flavoring, & in perfumes & incense, exported around the globe.
The spike balls are very unique, & I use them in potpourri & as a 'bowl filler' with other cool botanicals. They absorb scents very well & add a great texture to the mix. They can also be made into a variety of other crafts from cute little hedgehogs to wreaths. We've painted them, glittered them, you name it. :) They can be a lot of fun.
American Sweetgum trees can live for up to 400 years! You aren't just planting a seed, you are planting a legacy that can be enjoyed by many generations of not just humans, but our woodland friends too :)

OTHER: This enthusiastic grower has been reported to actually be hardy all the way down to zone 5. I’ve read many accounts of people growing them in ponds that completely froze over and came back or plants covered in 6” of snow that weren’t even effected. In extremely cold conditions, the plant may die down or some of the fronds will typically turn brown. If this happens, you can just remove the brown fronds by cutting them off and the plant should regrow in the spring. It can of course be grown in pots and brought indoors over the winter months. This tolerant plant will grow in a variety of soils and seems to tolerate dryness or extreme moisture (under water) very well. Once established, they are very easy to divide or new plants can be grown from cuttings. To do this, simply cut off a small frond from the palm and put it in water. In an amazing 7-10 days, you should begin to see roots. Once the plant has taken root, just plant it in soil. This agreeable beauty will add a great tropical flair to your landscape!
We also have Cyperus alternifolius (Umbrella Plant Cyperus) seeds, & other palms too!
