Purple Thai peppers are about 3 to 4 inches in length and transform from purple to a bright orangish-red as they mature. These hot peppers are a joy to grow, flourishing in containers on balconies, patios, or decks. Ranging from 50,000 to 100,000 Scoville Heat Units, Purple Thai peppers offer a spicy kick that's hotter than a Cayenne pepper but gentler than a Habanero. This variety finds its way into a variety of Thai and Asian dishes, as well as a few products like pepper flakes, hot sauces, and marinades.
