We have a fun fact that you can tell your friends and family about this pepper. When you see or hear the word NuMex, this means most pepper varieties with this word have been created or improved by New Mexico State University! This is a pepper variety named by Mr. Joe E. Parker who was a graduate of New Mexico State University. Love the MA Wartryx, but want it in yellow? We got you covered with the MA Wartryx Yellow! This is a yellow variant of the MA Wartryx created by Matthew Arthur (also known as MA), a renowned chili grower. When we heard about the Yellow MA Wartryx, a cross between a Trinidad Scorpion, 7 Pot Jonah, and Ubatuba Cambucci, we just had to grow this super hot pepper! The MA Wartryx Yellow pepper plant will grow to 3-4 ft. tall and produce super hot peppers of Scotch Bonnet shapes or mushroom-shaped with a rough, bumpy texture. Another variety coming from New Mexico State University, the Rio Grande Hot Pepper makes for easy growing and contains a pleasant, mildly hot taste useful in a variety of dishes. The 007 Pot Red Pepper is a super hot variation of the renowned 7 Pot peppers, originating from the Caribbean. This hybrid cross between the Trinidad 7 Pot and the Naga Morich delivers both intense heat and robust flavor.The 007 Pot Red pepper pods can grow up to 2 inches long with an irregular, bumpy shape. The NuMex College 64L pepper is another variety pumped out of New Mexico State University that has a shape similar to Anaheim peppers and a heat level comparable to the Jalapeno pepper. Expect these peppers to grow up to 3 ft. tall and produce good yields of these teardrop-shaped pods that expand up to 5” in length. Easy to grow, Numex College peppers start out growing as a bright green pod and mature to its spicy red color. Using Numex College peppers depends on when you harvest them. Their heat levels and flavors are contingent on this, as well. When green, these peppers have less heat and spice, making them useful in fresh foods and cooking in mild dishes. However, when red, the heat and spice increase and they make for wonderful chili powders, ristras, and are fantastic for roasting. The C3PO is an interesting super hot pepper with a very long parentage. It was named after the Star Wars robot, where its origin began with the variants of the Jigsaw cross that was created in Finland. Originally it was nicknamed Vader Jigsaw because there were mysterious variants that came into play to create this super hot pepper. The Moruga Scorpion’s variants appeared from the Jigsaw, and then a grower named Michael experimented with the chocolate version. Illinois grower, Mike Hess, then grew the Vader Jigsaw seeds, and he created a more caramel variant that resembled a 7 Pot Primo with a sweeter flavor. Hess then decided to keep the Star Wars theme going, so he named the pepper C3PO! He discovered that the heat level was identical to the Moruga Scorpion, which we know is a dangerous super hot pepper The C3PO pepper plants will grow to around 3-4 ft. tall, but make sure to take care of the plants consistently for the best results. The pepper is a caramel-red colored pod that looks like the 7 Pot pepper. The C3PO pepper is very wrinkly, scrunched up, and looks slightly evil. It has a strong heat and the tiniest amount of fruity sweetness. Keep in mind that this is a young cross, so it won’t be 100% stable when you grow this. It will grow into many variations, but we think that’s the fun part about it! 7 Pot Madballz is an interesting cross between Yellow 7 Pot and Chocolate Ghost. It was developed by the pepper grower “Madhatter” in 2013 and packs some serious super hot heat. These pepper plants will grow up to 4 ft. tall in your garden, bearing 3" long fruits. Pods are wrinkly and start off light green before ripening to a deep burgundy color that’ll definitely stand out in your garden. Plants grow large so make sure to give them plenty of space and stake your plant for added support. The flavor on the 7 Pot Madballz is surprisingly good and could be described as fruity and floral with a hint of smokiness. This is a rare variety of the Carolina Reaper pepper. Crossed between a Red Carolina Reaper and a Mustard Trinidad Moruga Scorpion, Mustard Reaper peppers offer a less-spicy, more-flavorful alternative to one of the hottest pepper's in the world. Mustard Reaper pepper plants will grow up to an average of 3 ft. tall, with some growing as high as 4-5 ft. Plants bear high yields of these 2” long peppers that start off green and ripen to a golden yellow, mustard-like color, while some ripen straight to red. Most of these pods have smooth skin, contrary to other Reaper peppers, and have thick and meaty walls.
