The Wa Mae Wo Hot Korean peppers look very similar to Thai peppers, but these slender pods are bred for their strong pungent flavors and high productivity.
These are early maturing plants that grow around 3-4 ft. tall and have great yields of these pendant-shaped pods when planted into the ground. Wa Mae Wo peppers start off green and mature to red with nice, smooth skin. Harvest these at green or red for variation in heat and flavor.
Taking a bite out of this pepper is like taking a bite out of an apple: crunchy, yet fruity and sweet. The heat is decently hot, and there is a little bit of a salty flavor to the Wa Mae Wo as well, making them ideal for cooking, roasting, or even chopping up and using them in fresh foods. They can also be used dried as a pepper, ground into flakes, and made into fermented pickles.
