Rather than discarding retired Pappy Van Winkle barrels, we commissioned local Louisville artist Jason Cohen to give these noble vessels their due by transforming barrels that are no longer fit for aging into functional art for your home. Use these one-of-a-kind handmade bowls—no two are alike—as a kitchen catchall for fresh fruit or a serving tray for charcuterie and other apps or a crusty loaf of French bread.

Before creating the Old Rip Van Winkle label, our grandfather, Julian Jr., formed a company called J.P. Van Winkle and Son, and he began marketing bourbon through creative ventures such as commemorative decanters. The most popular designs were often etched with the names or emblems of universities and given as gifts.
